Cartasia 2014: International Contest

Metropolis cultural association presents the International Cartasia's contest finalized to design and papers projects (monumental scale).

The contest aims to promote the paper like a fundamental material for artists. The purpose is create a union between art and environment.

All projects submitted must pass two selections:

1) The first selection is bounded to aesthetic values and to the respect of the main theme of the Biennial. For the artists who pass the first selection, the organizing commitee will ask an executive project based on their ideas.

2) The second selection involves the feasibility of the project. The projects will be evaluated on the basis of the documentation submitted by the participants and asked by the organizing committee. The Executive Project is the main document under which the monumental sculpture will be managed and defines the main steps to achieve the realization of the installation / sculpture.

At the end of the selection between 6 to 10 installations will be chosen and exhibited in Lucca in the month of July. From that moment, these installations will compete for the final prize. The selected artists will be invited by the organizing committee in Lucca, and their accommodation and travel will be paid. (no food expenses will be paid).
To participate you have to register on the webpage. Once registered, you can download the Application form.

Also the organization aims to offer the accommodation in town like an occasion to confront for artists. Finalist artists will work into very close contact: the objective is create a collaborative environment.

Cartasia winner will recive a prize of € 2,000.00
